Example Transactions

Setup

Below is information about the columns in the file you upload.

Security
  • This specifies the name of the security.
  • This column is mandatory.
Date
  • Must be in the form of MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY.
  • You also need to specify which form you decided to use in the "Additional Information" section.
  • This column is mandatory.
Action
  • The type of transaction that has occured. Acceptable values are "Buy", "Sell", "Reinvested Dividend" and "Split".
  • This column is mandatory.
Amount
  • Is either the total amount or the amount per share. If you don't specify a value for "Total or Per Share" then it will assume that it is the total amount.
  • This column is mandatory.
Shares
  • The number of shares.
  • This column is mandatory.
Commission
  • A number representing the amount it cost for you to do the transaction.
  • This column is mandatory.
Total or Per Share
  • This field is not required so it can be left blank. You can use the values "Total", "Per Share". The amount field will be the total cost of the transaction if use the value "Total" or leave it empty. Using the value of "Per Share" will mean that the amount field is the cost per share for the transaction.
Price in Foreign Currency
  • You can use the words "Yes", "No" or leave it empty. If you choose "Yes" the amount will be multiplied by the exchange rate.
Commission in Foreign Currency
  • You can use the words "Yes", "No" or leave it empty. If you choose "Yes" the commission will be multiplied by the exchange rate.
Exchange Rate
  • A numerical value representing the exchange rate.

Note

You can change the order of the columns however you want. In the setup you just need to associate the correct column letter to what it is in the file.
Below is additional information that is involved in the setup.

Ignore First Row
  • Select "Yes" if the first row of your spreadsheet has titles that describe the columns.
File Date Format
  • You can choose from the format MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY.
Choose file to upload
  • This is where you browse your computer and select the file you are going to upload.
  • This file must be in a CSV format.

Portfolio

Below are the different columns found in the table from the porfolio section.

Security
  • This specifies the name of the security.
Shares
  • Refers to the total amount of shares you currently have with this security.
ACB
  • The adjusted cost base.
ACB Per/Share
  • The adjusted cost base per share

Transactions

Below are the different columns found in the table from the transactions section.

Security
  • This specifies the name of the security.
Date
  • The date the transaction occurred.
Action
  • The type of transaction that happened.
  • It can be either "Buy", "Sell", "Reinvested Dividend" or "Split".
Amount
  • Is the total amount of the transaction.
  • This does not include commission.
Shares
  • The amount of shares involved.
Amount / Share
  • The amount per share.
Commission
  • The service charge for the transaction.
Capital Gain or Loss
  • The transaction will show a value for this column it caused a capital gain or loss.
Share Balance
  • Refers to the total amount of shares you currently have with this security.
Change in ACB
  • Change in the adjusted cost base.
New ACB
  • New adjusted cost base.
New ACB/Share
  • New adjusted cost base per share.

Capital Gains or Losses

Note

It is possible that there are capital gains or losses in more then one year. Choose the correct year you want from the drop-down list labeled "Select a year that had a capital gain or loss".
Below are the different columns found in the table from the capital gains or losses section.

Security
  • This specifies the name of the security.
Transaction Date
  • The date the transaction occurred.
Proceeds Of Disposition
  • Is the total amount of the transaction.
  • This does not include and charges involved to do the transaction.
Adjusted Cost Base
  • The adjusted cost base for the transaction.
Outlays and Expenses
  • Any charges involved to do the transaction.
Capital Gain or Loss
  • The capital gain or loss caused by the transaction.
